The styrocutter is operated with a lab power supply in current limiting mode. Set the current to around 2.1A and the voltage to around 20V. The typical resulting voltage will then be around 14V.

There is an alternative process from Holger Lambertus who does solar flight with peel-ply.
The Mylar way will result in a smoother surface.
