"I've always been a fan of computer science and business at the same time," Deema says. She is from Israel and is studying International Information Systems at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg.听International Information Systems听is the latest addition to the range of courses at the Faculty of Computer Science and it is the first Bachelor's degree course at 91漫画 that is explicitly aimed at and geared towards international students. Study contents from WS2024/25
The degree program is generally taught in English. As international students improve their German in semesters 1-4, German-language modules can be selected in higher semesters. International students learn German, German-speaking students learn a second foreign language offered by the university`s language center (Italian, Spanish, French or Chinese) Center for Languages and Intercultural Communication.
The two-semester orientation program imparts basic knowledge in the fields of information systems, computer science and business administration. Students learn computer basics, software development, accounting, intercultural management & law. Technical English and foreign language skills are also in focus.
From the third semester onwards, the intensification phase begins. The curriculum now includes database systems, implementation and programming of enterprise systems, data analytics, statistics, e-business and international IT-project and servicemanagement. In the project work the project assignment is presented and the students bring their foreign language skills to a higher level.
In the fifth semester, in addition to further specialization, students will be able to apply what they have learned in an internship semester. Within the framework of larger IT projects in companies, students have the opportunity to independently put their acquired know-how into practice. The subject of cost accounting, controlling and financial management is also taught in this semester.
Applied artificial intelligence, business modeling, production and logistics, as well as the seminar "new technologies" are the focus in the final semesters.
In addition, elective subjects give students the opportunity to choose modules that correspond to their inclinations and later career aspirations.听The range of courses is adapted to current requirements by the faculty. Elective subjects consist of compulsory electives according the catalogue of the faculty of computer science & general science electives according to the catalogue of University of Applied Sciences Augsburg.
The degree program concludes with the bachelor's thesis and the associated bachelor's seminar.

Lived Internationality
Our students come from all over the globe. German students thus learn to operate in an intercultural environment.
The course of studies is designed in such a way that foreign students are successively introduced to the German language and culture in order to be able to apply for jobs in German companies.

The Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg maintains a large network of partner universities worldwide. Field report on my semester abroad at SZTU (WS 2024/2025) - Maximilian Gehring
Planning
My goal was to complete my study-integrated internship semester abroad in a Chinese-speaking country. So I ended up at Shenzhen Technlogy University (SZTU), a partner university of Augsburg University of Applied Sciences (91漫画). China is a country with strong economic ties. Technical progress is also often emphasized, which was a decisive factor for me, along with the cultural experience and improving my language skills. As soon as it was clear that I could do the internship semester there, I went through the regular formalities, such as submitting a copy of my passport, etc. In my case, my local contact person was Prof. Raps (founding dean of the College of Urban Transportation and Logistics at SZTU) and the International Office at SZTU. Of course, organizing the visa was also an important step. In my case, this was an X2 visa for the People's Republic of China at the Munich Visa Center (as of 2024).
Preparation
In addition to language courses, I also used the CHIN-KoBe (China Competence Program) to prepare by taking part in an additional language course and other cultural seminars. In my case, the most important contact person for the planning and implementation on site was Prof. Raps. In addition to the formalities mentioned above, such as the visa, it is of course also important to take the relevant documents with you, such as proof of Chinese health insurance (which you have to take out from the university - I also took out German health insurance) and a certificate of enrolment from the Chinese partner university for the flight, so that you have everything ready at the border. I also received a clear list of all the formalities from SZTU. Internet access is restricted in China, and Western Internet services in particular are affected. It is also necessary to install various Chinese apps, including the 鈥渆verything apps鈥� WeChat and AliPay. Accommodation was possible for us as international exchange students in the university's own dormitories in a single room.
Situation on site
Overall, SZTU is excellently equipped: You can get everything you need in stores on campus, several canteens offer variety at mealtimes, and in addition to a very large, modern library, there is also a swimming pool and sports grounds (including several tennis courts). When I arrived at SZTU, I was met at the subway station by a member of staff from the International Office. This is located very close to the campus and is named after the university: 鈥淭echnology University鈥�. I then went straight to the International Office, where everyone greeted me warmly and the first formalities were clarified. Then I went straight to the dormitory. There were also several members of staff here, primarily two who spoke English and actively supported us. In the first few days, this mainly involved setting up a Chinese bank account, which is very helpful and necessary for larger amounts, including for topping up the campus card with money. We were also explained how this works.
The most important thing:
Nothing works without the internet. That's why we were also helped to set up a SIM card and get Wi-Fi in the dormitory. A Chinese cell phone number is almost indispensable, as many mini apps in WeChat require a Chinese number for verification, because almost everything is personalized - even when booking tickets for sights The range of courses at SZTU is very broad. Although the internship in the form of a student project took up most of my time, I also wanted to get an insight into teaching. In my case, this was quite straightforward and I was able to choose courses from the course catalog. It was also great that two Chinese courses were offered in our year and fortunately there were enough participants: one for beginners and one for advanced students. I was able to take another course during the so-called 鈥淚nternational Week鈥�.
Looking back, it was very easy to get used to the new environment and settle in. The helpfulness of all the local people, both on campus and elsewhere, was particularly pleasant. Many new contacts can be made immediately on WeChat. A very helpful feature to start with: the built-in translation function in the chat, which makes communication easier for both sides. SZTU also offers a range of clubs (sports, calligraphy, etc.), which you can also take part in. The International Office also provided information about upcoming events - a great opportunity to 鈥渢ake home鈥� great experiences here too!
For example, as students we had the opportunity to take part in the event celebrating 20 years of the Bavaria-Guangdong partnership in Guangzhou with the Bavarian delegation and thus come into contact with representatives from Bavarian politics, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Canton/China and the business community. In addition, numerous company visits to tech giants such as Tencent, Lenovo and BYD were organized during our year.
Situation after the semester abroad/internship semester - Conclusion
The follow-up work to officially complete the semester abroad also all went smoothly. I think that my stay abroad was a complete success: on the one hand, I was able to make progress in my studies and complete the internship semester. But the insight into teaching was also incredibly valuable for me. Professionally, I was able to gain insights into new technologies and get to know a general-purpose IT system (a Chinese open source project with no consistent internationalization (yet)) as well as the field of autonomous driving.
Shenzhen is the Chinese equivalent of Silicon Valley, and Guangdong is one of the top industrial locations in China. Just experiencing the surroundings and using the infrastructure, some of which is very advanced, and seeing how quickly construction sites are progressing was very impressive.
Of course, I was also particularly struck by the mindset of the people towards modern technology and change: Seeing scope and progress as an opportunity to sustainably improve people's coexistence and the environment through the use of technology instead of seeing (technological) change as a threat.
Of course, I have everyone at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, including all the departments, to thank for everything going so well. Also a big thank you to the SDW, who supported me in my project! I would also like to thank everyone involved at SZTU for their commitment to us international students, but above all for the incredible hospitality!
