As soon as you know the topic of your thesis and a supervising professor, you can inform the听library of this. Then you can obtain an extended lending period for the required books and media. If you have any questions about the form of your thesis please contact your supervisor directly.

If you are unable to attend a course where attendance is compulsory (e.g. practicals, seminars) due to illness, please contact the relevant lecturer.

If you are unable to take an examination due to illness, please apply for an extension of the examination deadline and enclose a medical certificate.

If you are unable to continue the examination during an examination due to illness, you must obtain a certificate from your doctor immediately (preferably on the same day) and submit an informal request to cancel the examination.

AWP stands for general science elective subject.

AWP subjects are, for example, Italian, professional writing, history or literature.

AWP enrollment听takes place via a separate system. You must register independently at the beginning of the semester (online).

The semester details in the curriculum are recommendations. You can decide for yourself in which semester you take a compulsory elective subject. Only the total number of compulsory electives that you should take during the course of your studies is binding.

Please refer to the听Study and Examination Regulations (SPO) to find out how many semester hours per week (SWS) or AWP subjects you have to complete during your studies.

If you take more semester hours per week than specified in the study and examination regulations, only subjects with the required number of ECTS credits will be included and evaluated in your certificate. The subjects with the higher grades will be considered first. If certain subjects are to be included in the transcript, please coordinate this with the Examinations Office.

FWP stands for compulsory elective subject (also known as WPF).

These are subjects that are offered by professors in the Faculty of Computer Science as a special subject. The subjects usually have to run 4 or 6 SWS and sometimes take place as a block seminar.

Registration for the FWP subjects takes place at the beginning of the semester via a lottery procedure at the Faculty of Computer Science.
This applies to the degree programs Computer Science Bachelor, Information Systems Bachelor, Computer Engineering Bachelor, International Information Systems, Computer Science Master, Business Information Systems, Master of Applied Research.

IA students:
There are two compulsory elective modules for the IA degree program for which they must register and undergo a selection procedure:

1. the compulsory elective courses of the 3rd and 4th semesters (formally module catalog 鈥淐omputer Science鈥�).
These are allocated by the Faculty of Design by means of a registration procedure.
The offer also includes courses that can be found in the compulsory elective catalog of computer science.

2. module catalog 鈥淪eminars and workshops鈥�
Within the scope of this module catalog, IA students may take any Computer Science electives whenever they wish (with the exception of those they have already taken as FWPs in the 3rd/4th semester).
Registration takes place via the registration system of the Faculty of Computer Science.

IMS students:
IMS students may participate in electives offered for their degree program without registration.

Post qualification:
Possible subjects for post qualification are always discussed with the faculty academic advisor for Computer Science.

If IMS students wish to take elective subjects from a bachelor degree program in Computer Science as part of a post-qualification, they must take part in the selection procedure for elective subjects offered by the Faculty of Computer Science.

For all other bachelor subjects at the Faculty of Computer Science they must contact the relevant lecturer.

If you take more subjects than required you will receive a separate confirmation with your grade upon graduation.

Incidentally, the rule that you must take a repeat examination within one semester does not apply to FWP subjects. You only have to pass FWP subjects to the extent of the specified number of ECTS credits. If you fail you can choose another subject.

In principle, you can take modules (subjects) from any other degree program either as electives, whose examination results are shown in a separate certificate, or as a substitute for modules from your degree program. However, the latter requires the prior approval of the respective examination board, which also defines the credit points to be achieved. The assessment is differentiated with regard to the respective study and examination regulations that apply to you.

Please note: There is no legal claim that a specific module from the subject catalogs of other degree programs can be accepted for your degree programs.

Please try to obtain a binding decision to transfer your credits in good time, at least four weeks before the start of the registration period of a course. The first point of contact in this regard is the relevant faculty academic advisor.

Students of the Faculty of Computer Science have the option of activating their Campus Card for access to the Faculty's buildings, lecture halls and laboratories if they wish to use them outside normal opening hours.

Exemption from the internship for examinations
If you are taking exams, please ask your company to grant you leave of absence for this day by presenting a certificate from the faculty (this does not count as a day of absence).

Students of the Faculty of Computer Science can operate virtual machines (VMs) at the university on their own responsibility as part of project work and final theses. These may only be used for research and teaching purposes without commercial intentions. The student receives extensive authorization (here: root access) and is thus responsible for the content of the VM as the operator.

Prerequisites are: the student is enrolled at the Faculty of Computer Science and agrees to the terms of use. In addition, a lecturer (e.g. professor) must be named who will supervise the project on behalf of the university - this is the only way to enable operation and, for example, accessibility from the Internet.
